Thriving Where God Wants Me to Be

For years now, I’ve featured many “Moms” to give us hope and inspire us all. This month I will feature my own walk towards “solo parenting”.

Almost two years ago, I changed status from married to solo mom. I wasn’t prepared for the whirlwind of events and emotions that followed suit. But by God’s amazing grace, the Lord had used primarily the church Christ’s Commission Fellowship (CCF), my Christian friends specially my Couples D12 group to overcome all obstacles. I am still very much a work in progress but slowly but surely, I’ve learned to recommit my life and my time to doing what the Lord wants in my life. I am left to lead my two wonderful children, Samantha and Jose Luis, to walk by faith in Him as well.

A few months after this life-changing event, I decided to seek a support group on top of my couple’s group so I can get more insights as to how I can overcome solo mom issues. Thus, I met these beautiful women.

The Lord had led me to them and it had been a whirlwind of activities and experiences for us all as we tried to overcome issues of being solo moms. I thank the Lord for Muriel “Murky” Gratela for welcoming me to her group. As the months pass by, I found myself being burdened by the fact that there’s a growing number “like us” in our society right now.

There are so many challenges that a solo mom face. And most often than not it could really be so overwhelming that it’s just so easy to surrender and give in to do things that are wrong just so we can survive.

I thank the Lord that my D12 couple’s group had been always there and continue to make me accountable and they keep me grounded in my faith. And with my ladies solo group, we continue to meet, study and learn together God’s amazing promises for us – that the Lord loves us and that we are where we are right now for a reason and a purpose.

We continue to meet on a weekly basis as much as we can. And through our meetings, we have improved on how we look forward to our life both as a woman and as a mom to our own children by following God’s design for us. For those interested to join us, please feel free to email me at your contact details and I’ll get back to you for details.

I would like to dedicate this video to these wonderful solo moms and their children. I love you all and leave you with this wonderful verse that I had been holding onto. God bless you all!

Jeremiah 29:11
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
